Belfast-turned-Foxrock tycoon Bill McCabe (59) is one of Ireland’s most successful technology entrepreneurs. He floated e-learning company CBT on NASDAQ. McCabe made at least €65m from share sales.
He used that windfall to invest in new technologies ranging from waste to energy and big data. His Oyster investment group has taken stakes in the likes of Fieldaware, Muzu.Tv, Complete Telecom and Data Hug, as well as pumping big money into fake boob firm Global Aesthetics, which recently raised €25m from investors.
McCabe has also put cash into property, with the LNC Group active in Germany, buying a vast retail centre in Bremen. It sold a 50pc stake in the Waterfront shopping centre development to Resolution as part of a €140m joint venture in 2010.
