GREENCORE increased revenues by nearly 50pc between April and June, as the company reported strong trading during the third quarter of its financial year.

In an interim management statement today, the ready meals maker posted revenue of £865m (€1.1bn), a jump of 48pc year-on-year.

Much of the growth was due to the company’s acquisition of the UK sandwich maker Uniq last year, which turned the company into a big supplier to Marks & Spencer.

The company said it had “performed well” during the period, but some businesses were “somewhat impacted by weather and the Jubilee celebrations”.

“We experienced strong performance in May in the run up to the Jubilee bank holiday helped by some good weather, whereas demand in June was impacted by inclement weather conditions,” the firm said.

Looking ahead for the remainder of the year, Greencore said it did not expect any significant changes in its forecasts for the full year.
