Receiver puts Finnstown House Hotel on the market for €4.25m

Finnstown Country House Hotel, Lucan, Co Dublin, formerly owned by Jim Mansfield of City West Hotel fame, is being offered for sale by insolvency practitioner Martin Ferris.

Estate agents, Savills, are quoting €4.25m for the freehold property set òn 19 acres of mature grounds.

Dalata Hotels have managed the hotel since July 2010 and the property is available free from this management agreement if required.

Located only 12km from Dublin City centre, it is convenient to the M/N4 and a frequent train service from Adamstown to Heuston Station.

The 82 bedroom, three star hotel comes with attractive 18th century period features and has recently been refurbished to a high standard.

It has built up a reputation as a wedding destination with over 112 weddings in 2012 and it also attracts corporate conference business.

Its mix of bedrooms includes 30 suites and it has two bars, a restaurant, three lounges, four meeting rooms and banqueting facilities for up to 200 persons. There is also a leisure centre, tennis court and gym.

According to Tom Barrett of Savills some of the 19 acres would have future development potential, especially the land to the left of the entrance driveway on the way into Finnstown House.

"Unlike most Dublin hotels, Finnstown has a unique country house feel. It is an outstanding operating business with excellent bedroom, food and beverage and leisure facilities. The hotel's trade and profitability have grown in recent years and there is great potential to build the business further. This is an exceptional opportunity for many owner operators and investors."

Mr Ferris has also been appointed as receiver to City West Hotel, in Dublin South West, which has 774 bedrooms and has been operated by Dalata Hotel Group since July 2010.

Another of Mr Mansfield's former hotels, Palmerstown Demesne, near Naas, Co Kildare, was seized by Nama last year and it, along with its 680 acres including a PGA golf course, is for sale through Knight Frank for over €12m.
