Quinns contest right of courts to rule in Anglo row

THE Quinn family have begun legal manoeuvers to challenge the right of the Irish courts to rule in the battle for control of the Quinns' €500m international property empire.

Sources confirmed the Quinns filed papers with representatives for Anglo Irish Bank yesterday confirming that the family would be contesting the Irish courts' jurisdiction in the row.

The news comes after both sides agreed that the first hearing in the case, which was due to take place in Cork today, would be postponed until Monday.

The dispute centres on the battle for control of the massive international property empire built up by the Quinns, which Anglo is trying to seize to service the family's debts of €2.9bn.
