Pure Telecom has signed a multi-million euro contract with BT Ireland in a deal that gives it access to 4,300km of nationwide network.

The Irish telecoms company can now offer broadband and phone services to 1.8 million potential customers via BT Ireland's multi-gigabit fibre infrastructure.

Set up in 2002 by Paul Connell and Alan McGonnell, Pure Telecom provides fixed line, broadband and cloud telecoms to businesses and consumers.

CEO Paul Connell said that the latest deal is of "strategic importance" to both Pure Telecom and BT Ireland and "could grow to up to €20m" over the coming years.

Working with BT Ireland's will help the City West-based firm to broaden its reach across the country, according to Connell, and help them to deliver broadband to hard-to-reach rural premises.

Peter Evans, Director of Wholesale and Strategy, BT Ireland, said that the two firms "share a common goal for every home and business in the country to enjoy the same choice and access to high speed broadband regardless of location".

Last year Pure Telecom announced a €1.8m investment in the creation of 32 new jobs, while it also agreed a €35m infrastructure deal with open eir in 2017.

The company won best broadband provider at the bonkers.ie National Consumer Awards 2018.
