Publicity-shy tycoon jumps on YouTube bandwagon

One of the most publicity-shy businessmen in Ireland, billionaire Sean Quinn, is now embracing modern media so much that he's created a YouTube page for his commercial empire.

Up and running since the end of January, the YouTube site even features a clip of Mr Quinn sipping on a drink and enjoying some Riverdance-style dancing at the recent opening of Quinn's Q-Park in Kazan, Russia (pictured left).

The site is entirely made up of Quinn-produced commercial videos, with just one exception -- Mr Quinn's interview with RTE's Tommie Gorman.

The interview, where Quinn admitted he had lost €1bn on Anglo shares but insisted his group remained solid, marked one of the only media appearances by the billionaire in recent memory and commanded massive interest.

But, so far, the Quinn Group's YouTube incarnation of the interview has generated just 28 views, including two by this newspaper.

The most popular video on the site is the Quinn Group's corporate profile, which kicks off with a majestic green Quinn lorry and has, so far, been watched 118 times.

The opening of the Quinn Group's Q Park in Kazan, Russia, addressed by Mr Quinn after a performance by local folk musicians, was the next most popular with 89 views, despite lengthy speeches in Russian. The 3D tour of the Q Park Kazan has proved less popular, however, with just 17 views.

The Quinn Group's YouTube homepage also shows the site has only attracted two subscribers so far.
