Michael JF Wright's hospitality group, which plans to open up a new food hall at  Suffolk Street in Dublin city centre next year, recorded a pre-tax loss of €1.2m last year.

New consolidated accounts lodged by The Wright Bar Group show pre-tax losses increased almost three-fold from €419,809 due mainly to an exceptional cost. Revenues declined marginally to €16.31m from €16.87m in the 12 months to the end of June last year.

The group ceased operating the loss-making Wright nightclub venue in Swords last January. Other units of the business continue to trade profitably and this is expected to continue into the future.
