Permanent TSB (PTSB) has appointed Eamonn Crowley as the bank’s chief financial officer.

Mr Crowley joins the bank from Bank Zachodni, a Polish subsidiary of Spanish giant Santander. He also served as cfo at the Polish lender.

Bank Zachodni was previously 70pc owned by AIB prior to its sale to Santander back in 2010.

“Having secured the future of the Group over the past five years our overriding focus is now on growing our market presence and ensuring our success as a key force for competition in the Irish market.  I know that Eamonn will play a crucial role in this exciting next phase for the group,” said Jeremy Masding, ceo of PTSB.

Mr Crowley highlighted the bank’s history upon taking up the role:

“The bank has an outstanding heritage in the Irish banking market and I have every confidence that we will build a strong, competitive platform for the business in Ireland for the benefit of our customers and, ultimately, our owners.”
