Permanent TSB and Bank of Ireland have been experiencing technical problems with their internet banking services today.

Permanent TSB told customers on Twitter that its telephone and online banking services were experiencing “technical issues”.

Bank of Ireland told customers on Twitter that its app and website were “experiencing slow response times”, later saying that the app had been “temporarily taken off air” but that the website was working.

A Bank of Ireland spokeswoman said the banks’ issues were unrelated.

“We are aware that our mobile app continues to be off air. We apologise and continue to work on it. Please remember that the full 365 online site is working as is our tablet app,” Bank of Ireland customers were told.

A Permanent TSB spokesman said the bank apologised to customers for the inconvenience. He said the banks’ problems were isolated issues that were technical in nature.
