Paddy Power Betfair has announced that it is to appoint Jonathan Hill as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Mr Hill, who is currently CFO at travel, home and motor insurance business Saga, will take up the role in the autumn.

The news comes after the gambling giant earlier this month announced the departure of current CFO Alex Gersh.

"We're delighted that Jonathan is joining us," Peter Jackson, Paddy Power Betfare CEO, said.

"He brings substantial strategic and operational finance experience in consumer businesses and I am confident he will make a significant contribution to Paddy Power Betfair's future success."

Mr Hill, who qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC, joined Saga as CFO in April 2015 and was previously group finance director at Bovis Homes.

Prior to that Mr Hill held senior finance roles at TUI Travel and Centrica.

"I am excited to be joining a business with great brands, differentiated products and substantial international scale. There are many opportunities to drive shareholder value and I look forward to being part of the team to deliver this," Mr Hill said.

Alex Gersh will continue as CFO until Mr takes up the role later this year.

Mr Gersh’s decision to step down after six years comes after Breon Corcoran announced last summer that he was stepping down as chief executive of the group. Mr Corcoran was replaced by Peter Jackson in January.
