Owner of Dublin-based Tour America Mary McKenna scoops 'Woman of the Year' award
Tour America MD Mary McKenna was named overall Woman of the Year at the inaugural everywoman in Travel Awards.
The Dublin woman scooped the impressive accolade at the event which celebrates the contribution women make to the multi-billion-pound travel industry.
The overall Woman of the Year Award recognises "an extraordinary woman whose passion, success and accessibility makes her an exceptional role model and a great industry ambassador".
Mary, who started her business in 1995 in her sitting room, was chosen "for her outstanding business acumen and dedication to inspiring other female entrepreneurs".
Over the last 22 years, Mary has grown Tour America steadily, a business which now employs 50 people and has offices in both Dublin and Cork.
"As we celebrate our 18-year anniversary, everywoman is immensely proud to have launched the inaugural everywoman in Travel Awards. We have been overwhelmed by the strength of the entries we received and congratulate the very deserving winners," Karen Gill MBE, co-founder of everywoman said.
Some of the travel industry’s most discerning senior figures were on the judging panel including Rachel O’Reilly, Head of Communications, Kuoni and Jo Rzymowska, Vice President & Managing Director, UK and Ireland & Asia at Celebrity Cruises.
The ceremony took place at East Wintergarden, located between the iconic towers of Canary Wharf in London.
