Dublin has been selected to host the 2019 Global DIY Summit following a competitive process that included bids from a number of cities including Rome and Amsterdam. The event, which will take place over the course of two days in the Convention Centre Dublin next June, is expected to generate up to €5m for the Dublin economy.

It is expected that the event will attract over 1,200 senior executive delegates from 65 countries, representing approximately 200 of the global industry's top retail groups.

The Dublin bid was headed by Patrick Cassidy, CEO of hardware group United Hardware, which owns and operates over 150 Homevalue and Arro stores across Ireland.
