Opportunities emerging for property graduates
A shortage of property and construction graduates is developing according to a survey by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI). This reverses the recent surplus which forced many to emigrate.
SCSI members report increased requirements for property graduates in 2012 due to increased expectation of activity due to the €2.2bn construction plans for mid to late 2013.
After employment of construction surveyors hitting a low of 34pc in July 2012, it is expected to rise to 39pc by December this year.
An even stronger increase from 19pc to 33pc is expected in jobs for graduate construction surveyors over the same period.
In the property surveying sector average employment is expected to increase from a low of 57pc in July this year to 60pc in December.
