'Off the Rails' stars share in €600,000 grant
AN ONLINE shopping service founded by the stars of RTE's 'Off the Rails' is just one of twelve female-led companies to secure an average of €50,000 each from Enterprise Ireland.
The businesses have been awarded a total of €600,000 under a government fund targeting women entrepreneurs.
Frockadvisor, founded by stylists and RTE stars Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney (pictured) is just one of the recipients. Dublin-based Frockadvisor, founded shortly after the pair launched their clothing line LennonCourtney, gives independent retailers an online platform to provide a personalised service to shoppers.
Other grant recipients include jewellery company Coldlilies; medical technology businesses Medxnote; Idoneus Medical Services and Dia Nia Technologies, and design marketplace Fab Studio.
The others are small business software provider Cloud KPI; digital textbook company Apperbook; web-based exam provider Test Reach; business diagnostics tool Market Finder and two others, Vac Travel and It's Beside You.
There was a 100pc increase in the number of female-led high potential start-ups in 2013, Enterprise Ireland said.
The grant body is also launching an online networking site aimed at connecting female entrepreneurs.
