Numbers on live register drop for the 15th month in a row
THE number of people on the live register dropped by 1,800 last month (September).
It is the 15th month in a row that there has been a decrease in the live register, bringing the overall number of people to 414,600 at the end of September.
Social Protection Minister Joan Burton briefed the cabinet about the latest drop in the live register figures today .They are due to be published by the Central Statistics Office tomorrow.
There was a reduction of 26,610 in the number of people on the live register, but when this figure was seasonally adjusted, the drop amounts to 1,800 people.
Over the past 12 months, the number on the live register has dropped by 20,665.
However, analysts have warned that emigration is playing a role in the drop on the live register as many young people are leaving the country to find work
