A new plan for Dublin's financial services area - the IFSC - aims at creating 10,000 new jobs over the next five years.

The strategy has been produced for the Government and will be considered by Cabinet later this month.

A major focus has been placed on the financial technology sector, which includes the likes of e-payment firms and electronic banking, in the document which includes 22 proposals from a group jointly chaired by the Department of Finance and An Taoiseach.

Start-ups are also to the fore in the report while an annual industry conference, like the Web Summit, is also included in the plan.

Minister of State Simon Harris has already visited the eighth Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong and a European targeted conference would highlight the IFSC as a key location for jobs.
