KBC BANK has named Peter Roebben as the new CEO of its Irish arm. He is moving from its Brussels head office to replace Wim Verbraeken, who is returning to Belgium.
Mr Roebben will take up his new post on April 1. Mr Verbraeken had been CEO of KBC Bank Ireland since November 2013, overseeing its return to profitability following the crash. The bank is the only one of a cohort of foreign lenders to have remained in the Irish market following the crash.
Mr Roebben is senior general manager of group credit risk at KBC Group in Brussels. The appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Ireland and the European Central Bank. Mr Verbraeken will take up a new role as senior general manager at KBC Group's head office.
