Need to regulate property managers
New legislation to govern property managing agents has been welcomed by Tom Dunne, chairman of the Irish Property & Facility Management Association (IPFMA).
Referring to new regulations to be introduced under the Property Services Bill and the Multi-Unit Developments (MUD) Bill, he said: "There is a clear need for the licensing of those offering (residential management) services and for educational requirements.
"There is also a clear need for more satisfactory arrangements around the handover of completed developments.
"The pending legislation will be important steps to helping all involved to find solutions to the very difficult issues facing them."
He pointed to key problems arising in developments which were unfinished, poorly built developments, or those lacking in proper documentation.
