Multinationals backed by IDA add record number of jobs in 2015

Multinationals supported by the IDA created a record number of jobs during 2015 across a range of sectors, the State agency has announced.

The organisation, which is responsible for attracting foreign direct investment, said that every region of Ireland posting net gains in jobs.

Just under 19,000 (18,983) were added by multinationals last year, taking account of losses elsewhere net jobs rose 11,833 compared to 7,131 in the same time period last year. Total employment at overseas companies now stands at 187,056 people, which the IDA says is the highest level on record.
