Motive wins €1.1m contract for TV3 UEFA matches

The Irish arm of AIM-listed broadcast group Motive Television has won a €1.1m contract with TV3 to co-produce 62 UEFA Champions' League and UEFA Europa League matches in conjunction with Asgard Media.

The contract commences immediately and will run until May 2012.

As part of the deal, Motive and Asgard will also produce the UEFA Europa League final for TV3. The game is slated to be played at the redeveloped Lansdowne Road stadium in May next year. Motive said the contract demonstrated that it had made the correct decision in not disposing of its Irish arm even as it sold other units.

The Irish production division has recurring revenues through long-term contracts with TV3 as well as other Irish broadcasters.

Last year Motive extended an already existing contract with TV3 in a €1.7m deal to produce 38 UEFA matches and Europa club football games for the channel. They were also co-produced with Asgard Media.

The two companies also won a three-year deal in April last year for the live production of GAA football and hurling matches for TV3.

Asgard Media was founded in 2007 by Ciaran O hEadhra, who is a former executive producer and commissioning editor with Setanta Sports.
