Ms Mitchell O'Connor opened the fair by asking people to "focus their spending power on buying Irish this Christmas".

Ireland's biggest indoor crafts fair is being held at the RDS in Dublin and is expected to generate €1m on each of the five days it will run.

Large crowds inspected the 600 stands spread out across four halls.

Some 120 artisan food producers will also keep people well fed.
