Mindshare & Bravo win top awards at Media Awards

Mindshare walked away with the Agency of the Year Award at the inaugural Media Awards 2011 last night in Dublin's Burlington Hotel.

Mindshare also bagged the Grand Prix Award as well as the Award for Best Use of Media (€100k+) for its work on the Bord Gais "Make the Switch" campaign.

It was also a big night for outdoor firm Bravo, which walked away with Media Brand of the Year fighting off still competition from the likes of Today FM, TV3 and An Post's Mail Media Unit.

Other big winners on the night included The Irish Daily Star which picked up the Sales Team of the Year Award, hust ahead of Newstalk 106 and TV3 which picked up the bronze.

MEC which picked up a gold in the Best Use of Media (Niche <€100k); ICAN which picked up a silver and a bronze; MediaVest which picked up a silver and Initiative which won a silver and a bronze.

Other agencies that picked up awards include Carat, OMD, AV Browne and Ardmore Advertising.

News International, meanwhile, took the gold in the Best Sales Initiative (€100k +) category for Ford Fiesta while Today FM picked up the gold in the Best Sales Initiative (< €100k).

Associated Newspapers won the gold in the Best Collaboration category. Elsewhere, UTV Radio Solutions took the gold in the Best Research category for its research on Gummy Vites.

The Media Awards is a joint initiative between Irish Marketing Journal and The Brainfood Store and is set to become an annual event.

With over 550 guests from the advertising, print, outdoor, digital, TV and radio sectors, it was the largest such gathering of industry professionals under one roof.

The MC for the night was Mario Rosenstock who treated guests to his impressions of Michael Flatley and Labour minister Joan Burton.

Partners of this year's Media Awards include RTÉ Media Sales, IRS, UTV Radio Solutions, Kantar Media, Tesco Finest Wines and vStream.
