The Irish Executive Mentoring Program (IEMP) is to expand its platform globally, Diaspora Minister Jimmy Deenihan has said.
The programme, which launched in pilot form in the US in 2012, aims to promote the development of new executive and entrepreneurial talent in the Irish diaspora.
The expansion will be funded by the Government's Emigrant Support Programme, which funds projects and non-profit organisations that support Irish people living abroad. "In every instance we were oversubscribed with applicants both on the protege side and the mentor side," IEMP programme director Colman Lydon said.
"Based on the overwhelming response to the pilot ... we needed to elevate the programme."
