Funeral directors Massey Bros is to significantly expand its business over the next five years, starting with an initial €500,000 investment in a new premises.

The Dublin-based firm opened a new branch in Blackrock today, bringing its total branch network to ten. The company also refurbished its funeral home on Thomas Street in Dublin and installed a state-of-the-art mortuary facility on Cork Street.

Massey Bros managing director Freddie Maguire said the company has ambitious plans for new products and services over the next two years.

"Massey Bros is a growing business, evidenced by the fact that we now arrange approximately one-in-four of all funerals in the areas in which we have a presence.

“The service we offer is one that enables families to honour the lives of their loved ones.  To do that in a meaningful way, we have to be innovative, particularly as today there is no such thing as a ‘standard’ funeral," Mr Maguire said.

The firm also announced its intentions to open a number of new branches in key locations around Dublin city and county over the next five years. Both of which, Massey Bros say.

The expansion has the potential to create up to 15 new jobs.
