Maher quits her 'Examiner' role

THE chief executive of the 'Irish Examiner' surprisingly resigned yesterday to take over a Cork--based advertising company.

Mairead Maher, who had been in the job for just over a year, is leaving the 'Examiner' to become chief executive of Huguenot Design -- a branding and digital design company that counts SuperValu and Kerry group among its clients.

She will take up that role in September.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings (TCH), which owns the newspaper as well as 'The Sunday Business Post' and a host of regional newspapers, did not immediately announce a replacement.

"Mairead has been an exemplary colleague and CEO and takes with her our very best wishes in her future endeavours," said TCH chief executive Tom Murphy.

Previously she worked with Dairygold Co-op and Carbery Milk Products.
