research by Inter Continental Hotels Group says that a lack of reliable internet is the biggest stressor for business travellers, followed by poor transport links and noisy accommodation. Three fifths of 10,000 business travellers surveyed said the internet was the most important facility they could have in their hotel room, more important than a television, bath or even a fridge. Much of this demand relates to the need to contact home. Almost two thirds prefer to use the internet over any other device for this and half cited connecting with family as the best way to de-stress at the end of a working day. Hotels have faced criticism for continuing to charge guests for wifi.
