Kitman Labs, the Irish sports technology company founded in 2012, is planning on hiring between 50 and 100 new staff over the next year.
Speaking with the Sunday Independent, Stephen Smith, co-founder and the chief executive of Kitman Labs, said its innovation centre in Ireland would be the key focus for the hires. He added Kitman was mostly looking for staff in data science, engineering, product management, design, customer support, and sport science.
Smith said he had the ambition to make Kitman the company that “changes the entire industry”.
“We want to turn the industry toward intelligence as a driving force for performance and health,” he said. “That’s what gets us excited every morning.
“The team has grown over the last couple of years to 104, and all of those people wake up excited about the opportunity to do something that’s never been done before.
"At the moment, we want to add another 50 to 100 people over the next year, and the vast majority of those within the Irish market.”
Kitman Labs provides client organisations with a performance intelligence platform to track and analyse athlete data. Its cloud-based system allows coaches to integrate data about players’ fitness, performance and overall health to enable better decision making on development, training and game strategy.
Smith said around 700 teams use Kitman across various sports, including clubs such as Chelsea FC, LA Galaxy, Chicago Cubs and Bayer Leverkusen.
Kitman recently completed the acquisition of Presagia Sports for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition was the company’s second in two years. Kitman bought English athlete data management company The Sports Office last year.
