Kerry-based firm strikes pan-African mobile deal

Peter Flanagan

A KERRY-based company has won a contract to offer mobile network technology across Africa.

Altobridge, which specialises in providing mobile phone networks to remote areas, and Gateway Communications, a supplier of pan-African telecommunications services, have entered into a joint sales and marketing initiative, which will offer mobile network operators across Africa cost-effective mobile communications.

The contract was secured with support from Enterprise Ireland's Africa market team, which brokered the introductions between Gateway and Altobridge.

The partnership will see each participant promoting each other's portfolio.

David Byrne, Head of High Growth Markets with Enterprise Ireland, welcomed the deal.

"Africa is one of Ireland's high growth markets with particular potential for Irish firms in sectors such as ICT and telecommunications," he said.

"Altobridge's success with Gateway will endorse Ireland's reputation as a source of innovative, quality, hi-tech products and services in the African market," he added.
