A health and fitness bootcamp business owned by TV presenter Kathryn Thomas recorded a loss of nearly €40,000 last year.

However, the firm remains in good shape with a cash pile of €63,387 and accumulated profits of €24,147 in reserve at the end of last October, according to accounts with the Companies Registration Office.

Pure Results Bootcamp Limited was set up by the Operation Transformation host in October 2014 and was publicly unveiled in April 2015. It made a profit of €62,695 during its first year in business.

The firm employs personal trainers, nutritionists, chefs and coaches to provide seven-day bootcamps in picturesque locations throughout the country, including Parknasilla Resort in Co Kerry and Mount Falcon Estate in Co Mayo.

The business also offers two-week "aftercare" programmes which focus on "getting fitter, renewing confidence and inspiring long-term lifestyle changes", says its website.

Ms Thomas (38) is the sole owner of the firm but her brother, David, is also listed as a director. Her sister, Linda, is named on the company's website as its director of business development.

Accounts for Pure Results Bootcamp Ltd show that the company was owed €22,857 by its debtors at the end of last October, while a total of €63,387 remained payable to creditors.

The RTE star is also the co-owner of Aquarius Productions Limited, a media firm that reported accumulated profits of almost €290,000 and a cash balance of €164,248 for the 12-month period to the end of February 2016.

Ms Thomas, who first came to prominence as the presenter of the travel programme No Frontiers, set up the company in 2007 as her television career took flight.

Her father, Gwynne Thomas, is also a shareholder in the business.

She is now the host of top-rated RTE show Operation Transformation, which has consistently attracted in excess of half-a-million viewers.

The Carlow native got engaged to Padraig McLoughlin last year after dating the restaurateur for four years. The couple are planning to tie the knot in 2018.

Ms Thomas did not respond to a request for a comment yesterday.
