EMIT has acquired the manage services business and customer base of IT service provider Softech for an undisclosed cost.

The deal will allow the leading Irish IT services firm to grow its managed services business, with EMIT forecasting the acquisition will add a further €2M in revenue over the next three years.

Founded in 2003 and based in Santry, Dublin, EMIT provides customers with IT solutions and Managed IT as a Service in the areas of  cloud computing, business productivity, IT security and infrastructure.

EMIT, a leading partner of both Dell and Microsoft in Ireland, believe the acquisition will strengthen their managed service proposition and capabilities, while actively supporting a customer base of over 3500 end users.

Founder and managing director Eamon Moore said that the company "have been looking closely at several acquisition opportunities for some time".

"We believe that Softech is the perfect fit for our business right now, particularly with its successful pedigree in delivering high quality IT services and solutions. We welcome their knowledge and experience, and will integrate their offerings, team members and customers seamlessly into our business,” he said.

Softech - which provides a wide range of infrastructure, managed services, information management, cloud services and business Intelligence solutions - has been operating in Dublin since 1978.

Its management team assessed several potential acquirers before choosing EMIT, which was seen to have the strongest capabilities to manage its customer base.

Aidan Bailey, Softech, said he is "fully confident that EMIT is the best IT partner to look after the needs of our valued customer base".

"I pass on the business to EMIT knowing that it will meet the same very high standards of professional service that our customers have experienced during their time with Softech,” he said.

In 2016, EMIT won Microsoft’s Global Small and Midmarket Cloud Solutions Partner of the Year, as well as Microsoft Ireland SMB Cloud Partner of the Year.
