IT recycling firm AMI is creating 30 new jobs and expanding its premises as part of €4m investment.

The roles, which will be shared across the company's hubs in Dublin and Belfast, will bring its total workforce to 90 within the next two years.

CEO Philip McMichael said that the firm celebrated strong growth in 2018 and will capitalise on that as they focus on acquiring complementary businesses this year.

"We will remain on the lookout for other IT disposal and installation businesses with matching values that can easily integrate into the company, allowing us to quickly enhance our offering," he said.

Investment in AMI’s subsidiary, on-site hard drive and media shredding service DiskShred, will also help the company extend its service offering internationally.

In December, the company ramped up its equipment disposal offering with a €200,000 upgrade in systems, software and training to help to facilitate office moves.

This latest investment is expected to assist the growth of this deployment and relocation service, which AMI believe will generate more than €1.15m in revenue by 2021.

Investor Rob Clarke contributed €570,000 towards the €4m investment and will also be appointed to AMI’s board as chairman.

Mr Clarke said that AMI is a great example of an Irish business success story, "establishing itself during the recession and going from strength to strength since then".

AMI more than doubled its workforce from 25 to 60 in the last three years, and grew revenues by over 50pc in the past two years to €8.1m.
