It all adds up for Mindshare

MEDIA group Mindshare has been named the top press advertising agency by the National Newspapers of Ireland.

Last year €167.6m was spent on advertising with NNI newspapers, with agencies accounting for €102.6m of the total spend.

Led by Bill Kinlay, Mindshare took the top spot in the NNI "Agency League Table" for the third year in a row, having spent a total of just over €9.7m on press advertising in 2012.

Starcom were second with an €8.6m spend, while Carat were close behind at €8.2m.

The Brindley agency increased its spend by €1.3m to record the highest overall jump in press spending.

Meanwhile, GT Media made the year's highest percentage increase in press spending with a phenomenal year-on-year growth amounting to 88pc.

"NNI publishers have invested heavily in digital technology and now operate as news media companies rather than merely as newspapers, providing content across a variety of platforms," said NNI co-ordinating director Frank Cullen.

Total press advertising market showed a year-on-year decline of some 6pc in 2012, but advertising on newspaper websites and mobile apps increased 22pc in the same period.
