Irish linen brand Earthed scoops award at New York boutique design event

A luxury Irish linen brand has been recognised in the 2017 Boutique Design New York (BDNY) awards.

Derry-based Earthed scooped the Best fabric award at the New York event which celebrates the innovation, functionality and aesthetics of products.

The design fair brings together interior designers, architects, developers and manufacturers within the hospitality industry.

Earthed was awarded the prize for its Faded Grandeur design in the Latobius colourway from debut collection, The Upperlands.

US design industry professionals sat on the judging panel, including Katie Liberman, designer at Simeone Deary Design Group, Annie Masincupp, designer at Streetsense, Steve Rugo, principal of Rugo / Raff Ltd. Architects and Alyssa Smith, interior designer at Gensler.

Creative director at Earthed, Duncan Neil, said that the firm strive to bring "something completely unique" to the market.

"We will continue to create unique and sumptuous fabrics that are ideal for the home, as well as interior spaces across the hospitality sector," he said.

Parent company William Clark has a 300-year history in luxury fabrics and high-end fashion, and has worked with global brands Savile Row tailors.
