A multi-million euro contract to supply 470 holiday lodges to the new €223m Center Parcs resort in Co Longford has been won by Northern Ireland firm FastHouse.

FastHouse, part of the Lagan group, is a modular construction company based in Limavady. Its main shareholder is Belfast-based Kevin Lagan, chairman of the Lagan Group of companies. The business is separate from Lagan Construction, which recently saw some of its entities placed in administration.

FastHouse's installation teams have already commenced work on the 10-month build programme at the 400-acre Longford forest site in Ballymahon. The Center Parcs resort - the first in Ireland - is set to open in 2019.

The Limavady firm was awarded the contract by John Sisk & Son, which is the main contractor on the project.

Sisk will oversee the construction of the lodges, 30 apartments and the state-of-the-art centre buildings, which include the subtropical swimming centre, bars, restaurants and shops. The exact value of the contract awarded to FastHouse wasn't disclosed.

Stephen Bell, the managing director of FastHouse, said that the project marks the company's first major foray in to the market south of the Border.

"We have already completed numerous housing projects throughout Northern Ireland and England over the past 15 months and Ireland will now be a core market for the company across our modular housing and leisure lodge products," he said.

At a 200,000 sq ft facility, FastHouse manufactures modular open and closed panel timber frame systems for the construction industry. The system can see a pair of semi-detached houses constructed to a watertight stage in two days.

It claims its closed panel timber frame wall system is 50pc faster than traditional build construction, and 30pc faster than standard open panel timber frame construction.

The company installed a third production line last November and will have hired an additional 30 staff by April to add to the 60 it already employs. The third line will enable Fasthouse to build as many as 1,500 homes a year.

FastHouse previously completed the manufacture and installation of 14 holiday lodges at the Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Spa in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
