Irish entrepreneurs look to €6m profit from hangovers

Roisin Burke

A NEW hangover remedy brought here by two Irish entrepreneurs is quickly growing sales towards €6m in Britain.

NoHo, a "natural" cure for too much boozing, might help the sore heads caused by sorrows being drowned after Euro 2012.

John Curtin and Conor Barry bought the Ireland and UK licence for the drink, which is used by such stars as actor Michael Fassbender, rapper Lil' John and Paris Hilton.

It has been a major seller in the US.

The pair started off selling out of a pop-up shop off Grafton Street last year.

"Then the social media element completely took off and we sold 20,000 units in five weeks," says Curtin.

Priced at €6, No-Ho sells in Spar and Mace stores and online, and in pubs, off-licences and pharmacies, and there is a dedicated NoHo shop in Cork.

"At the moment we're in discussions with a major distributor," adds Curtin.

"In the next month, we hope to have signed up with a partner in the UK.

"We launched our website about two months ago and orders are coming in online. We are looking to sell one million units there this year and on target to sell 250,000 in Ireland."
