US private-equity firm Montreux Capital invested close to €23m in Irish breast-implant company Global Aesthetics, which is backed by former CBT chief Bill McCabe's Oyster Group and the Barry's Tea family from Cork.

Both McCabe and the Barry's Tea group have lent money to the company. McCabe's Oyster group was owed over €3m at year end, with Tony Barry and his family company owed €2.2m, according to new company documents.

Global Aesthetics is trying to access the US market and has bought the French company Eurosilicone SAS and the British firm Nagor -- both leading brands in the "enhancing body aesthetics" sector.

The Irish company is spending heavily trying to get its products approved in the massive US market. It is also growing fast in Brazil, where it has restructured sales operations and bought a number of brands.
