The popularity of TV3's Great Irish Bake Off, and a recovery in discretionary incomes, has us snapping up pricey kitchen gear in droves.
Sales of food preparation equipment at retailer Harvey Norman jumped by 35pc over the past six months, CEO Blaine Callard said.
High-end appliances like Kenwood food processors and Heston Blumenthal mixers are driving most of the growth, rather than budget brands.
"We expect the Christmas peak to be even stronger this year due to the influence of TV shows like the Great Irish Bake Off," Mr Callard said.
He has noticed an end, finally, to the practice of "break and replace" - where shoppers only buy furniture and appliances when the original breaks.
"People are coming in and buying multiple appliances at once, revamping their kitchens entirely rather than just waiting for things to break," he said.
"We have also noticed a lot more people physically coming into our stores to measure items, which indicates the start of a buying cycle."
