Investor Ewing sells his stake in luxury yacht firm YCO
SERIAL entrepreneur and investor Sean Ewing sold his stake in AIM-quoted luxury yacht firm YCO shortly before the company was delisted last week.
Ewing had built up a chunky stake in the luxury yacht company when it was seeking to move into the high-end charter business.
YCO's clients have included Chelsea FC owner and billionaire Russian oil oligarch Roman Abramovich (who has four massive motor yachts, the biggest being the Eclipse, which has two swimming pools, two helipads, a gym, hair salon, dancefloor and a James Bond-style submarine) and the Top Shop retail tycoon Philip Green -- whose pride and joy is a 208ft Benetti yacht worth €40m.
Sean Ewing, who divides his time between his various business interests in Spain and the Gulf, chairs Pinmar, one of the world's largest super yacht maintenance firms. He bought the firm from private equity group Ferretti in 2009.
The Sligo financier made a fortune from hedgefunds and financial services sector before moving to the Iberian peninsula.
