Industrial production surged by close to a third in February compared with the same month last year, data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows.
Output was up 18.1pc in February compared with the previous month, but up a massive 31.8pc on the same time last year, continuing a trend now seen for a number of months.
The data from the CSO shows that the so-called modern sector, made up of a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed a monthly increase in production for February 25.7pc.
There was a more modest monthly increase of 2.2pc in the more employment intensive traditional sector.
The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for Manufacturing Industries for the three months December 2014 to February 2015 was 2.2pc higher than in the preceding three month period.
Analysts have been forecasting continued growth in the manufacturing sector this year.
