Independent Digital launches new tablet ads

The AdTouch format provides tablet users visiting Independent.ie the ability to engage with ads "tablet-style" using all of the tactile functions of the iPad including tap, touch, slide, pinch and zoom to reveal new content.

The experience enables our users to engage with content without being forced to leave the page, whilst allowing brands and advertisers to build a much more engaging ad format.

Independent.ie is the first publisher within the Irish marketplace to roll out this new and exciting advertising format in conjunction with Emirates.

The www.emirates.com campaign is planned to celebrate the arrival of new Emirates aircraft with the main objective of the campaign being:

- To create awareness of B777-300ER product and associated benefits

- Create a desire for customers to find out more by visiting Emirates website

- To entice customers to book flights with Emirates

Eileen Ruddy, Online Sales Director, Independent Digital comments “At Independent Digital we continuously strive to drive innovation and creativity for our advertisers. The AdTouch format combines the use of highly impactful rich media creative and harnesses the power of touch screen handheld devices. This enables our users to have a much better experience with our advertisers and to truly interact with the brand.”

AdTouch uses HTML5 IAB standard-size ads to serve touchable, non-intrusive rich media ads.

Cameron Yuill, CEO and founder of AdGent Digital, the developers of the AdTouch platform, says: “We created the AdTouch so publishers could fill their ad unit inventory with iPad compatible ads. We are firm believers in the future of the tablet as the premier device to view content. Research by Gartner predicts that there will be 665 million tablets in use by 2016."
