Aon adds staff to Irish consultancy

US insurance giant Aon is expanding its Irish operations with the launch of an Irish branch of its Global Risk Consulting business. The new unit is expected to add a small number of new staff to the current 600 employees at its Dublin HQ.

Dublin Chamber's surplus at €1.6m

THE Dublin Chamber of Commerce boosted its annual surplus to €1.6m last year, according to accounts just filed with the Companies Office. The business group took in €1.8m in membership fees and charges for services over the year. The Chamber is sitting on €4m of funds.

Sodexo in merger deal for Zehnacker

ON-SITE service solutions provider Sodexo Ireland has acquired Zehnacker Ireland, which provides specialist facilities management services for healthcare facilities. The company, which employs 25 people in Ireland, will be renamed Sodexo Zehnacker Healthcare.

US hedge fund tries to block AIB move

New York hedge fund Abadi & Co plans to continue with a legal bid aimed at blocking "burden sharing" by AIB with its subordinated bondholders. Last night Abadi told Bloomberg it was "dismayed at the emerging details" of AIB's bond buyback offer.

Petroceltic in share issue to raise $60m

PETROCELTIC, a Dublin-based company looking for oil in North Africa, said it intends to raise about $60m (€42m) through a placing of new ordinary shares to help pay for another rig in Algeria. The company said it would place the shares with new and existing customers.
