If only Quinn's offer could have been tested
COLETTE Quinn, the daughter of former billionaire Sean Quinn, has offered to make any member of the family available to give evidence before the Oireachtas Finance Committee.
The Punt wonders if this includes Ms Quinn's cousin and fugitive Peter Darragh Quinn, who has so far resisted arrest for contempt of court and remains at large in Northern Ireland.
Any appearance by him in this jurisdiction would lead to his arrest and probable imprisonment.
But Ms Quinn, in a letter to the committee, stated that she can confirm that "any member of our family is prepared to attend any such hearing and to formally outline our position for the record, if given the opportunity".
It would be interesting to test that commitment.
As it stands however, TDs and Senators will not get the opportunity on this occasion.
Committee chairman Ciaran Lynch has said it would not be appropriate to have the Quinn family attend a hearing while court proceedings are continuing.
