Iconic Fearless Girl statue to make a visit to Ireland next month

The Fearless Girl statue was placed in New York’s financial district by State Street Global Advisors on the eve of International Women’s Day 2017.

Sculpted by Kristen Visbal, the statue was created to spark discussion around the importance of increasing the number of women on corporate boards.

Fearless Girl has since become an instant international sensation, achieving over 10 billion impressions across, social, digital and print media.

During Ireland’s inaugural Climate Week in November, the statue will appear at Europe’s flagship 2018 Climate-Kic Climate Innovation Summit held at Dublin Castle.

Hosted by the EU’s EIT Climate-KIC body, Sustainable Nation Ireland and partners including the Department of Finance, the summit will take place from November 6 to 8.

Minister for Financial Services Michael D’Arcy said that Fearless Girl is "a wonderful and inspiring symbol of leadership in tackling the challenges that we all face".

With $2.8 trillion in assets under management globally, State Street Global Advisors employs more than 2,500 people in Ireland with offices in Dublin, Drogheda, Kilkenny and Naas.

Head of State Street Global Advisors Ireland said Ann Prendergast said that Fearless Girl’s purpose is "aspirational and inspirational".

"We’re proud of the role she has played in sparking the conversation around women in leadership and workplace gender diversity, and we are delighted she is coming to Dublin to support Climate Week events."
