Hope for rate-payers in revaluation programme

Dublin City commercial property owners may stand a 50pc chance of having their rateable valuations reduced in the revaluation of rateable values currently under way at the Government's Valuation Office.

In similar exercises undertaken in the Fingal and Dun Laoghaire county council areas, 65pc and 54pc of owners saw a reduced rates liability, respectively. In Dublin South County 49pc saw a reduction and 39pc saw an increase.

The deadline recently passed for Dublin City Council rate-payers to complete and return their Revaluation Information Form to the Valuation Office but late submissions can be made online or by freepost.

Rate-payers are legally obliged to complete and return the form, which can be completed in minutes online at or returned in its accompanying prepaid envelope.

It has been sent to all Dublin City Council ratepayers as part of the national programme to revalue all commercial and industrial property.
