Grafton announces 9.5pc increase in sales as recovery in Ireland and UK continues

BUILDERS merchanting and DIY firm Grafton Group has announced a 9.5pc increase in 2014 sales as an improvement in the Irish and UK economies continued.

Sales rose to £2.08bn from £1.9bn in 2013, the company said today in a trading statement.

Grafton operates builders merchants here and in the UK and is also the owner of DIY chain Woodies and Atlantic Homecare.

The company said the rate of revenue growth at is Irish merchanting business rose strongly as the economy move to a "stronger growth path."

"Revenue trends evolved broadly in line with the group's expectation of a moderation in the rate of growth as the year progressed," said Grafton's chief executive Gavin Slark. 

"The group anticipates reporting 2014 results consistent with current market expectations and enters 2015 in a robust position as it continues to execute its growth strategy," he added.
