THE cash pile at the Northern Ireland-based arm of concert promoters Aiken Promotions jumped 42pc last year.

The company saw the pile increase to £6m (€7.18m) in the 12 months to the end of last January. Accumulated profits increased from £1,047,000 to £1,090,000.

The group is led by Peter Aiken but how the business performed in the Republic is less clear as Aiken has unlimited status in Ireland and is not required to file accounts. However, auditor's reports lodged with Companies Office confirm that the firm did record a profit in 2012 and in 2011.

The company is set to enjoy a stellar year in 2013 boosted mainly by the string of Bruce Springsteen (above) concerts in the summer. Gross box office receipts on the Springsteen gigs will be around €13m.
