Goggin named as new CA chairman


ENTERPRISE Minister Richard Bruton has appointed Isolde Goggin as chairman of the Competition Authority (CA). Ms Goggin will also act as chairperson-designate of the proposed Consumer and Competition Authority, which will result from the amalgamation of the Competition Authority and National Consumer Agency.

Britain's top AAA rating stable - S&P


STANDARD & Poor's top AAA credit rating for Britain maintained a stable outlook, the agency said yesterday, despite a poor growth outlook. The agency does not foresee revising Britain's rating in the medium term.

Survey shows IFSC may face job cuts


THE Irish Financial Services Centre could face new job losses after a survey of City firms estimated 6,000 jobs would go in the finance sector in the next three months. While the survey, compiled by the Confederation of British Industry employers' group and PricewaterhouseCoopers, is focused on the City in London, the big securities firms tend to class their Irish operations as a division of their UK business.
