Former AIB boss Colm Doherty (above) has been linked with a bid for waste firm Greenstar.

Doherty is thought to have teamed up with former AIB executive chairman Dan O'Connor to advise US private equity firm Anchorage Capital on potential buyouts in Ireland.

Greenstar is being sold by Deloitte after it was put into receivership. It is understood that a number of private equity firms have dropped out of the running as bidding moves into the second round.

Irish waste firms Panda, Greyhound and Thorntons are said to have expressed interest, as have US buyout firms Gores and Oaktree.
