Focus: BoI opens Spanish office for buyout funds

Bank of Ireland has opened a new leveraged acquisition finance office in Madrid. The office's focus will be on funding Spanish domestic and international private equity sponsors' leveraged buyouts (LBOs).

The Madrid office is the seventh leveraged acquisition finance location that Bank of Ireland has opened globally.

The bank has appointed Beltran Paredes (inset), the former managing director and head of debt advisory at Rothschild, to head up the new operation.

Speaking at the Irish Ambassador to Spain's residence in Madrid, where the new office was launched, Francesca McDonagh, Bank of Ireland group CEO, said Madrid is an important strategic location for the bank.
