Five-star profits for Ashford Castle resort
The firm that operates the five star Ashford Castle hotel resort recorded pre-tax profits of €724,983 in its first year of operation.
The hotel emerged from receivership in May 2013 after Red Carnation Hotels paid €20m for the Co Mayo resort.
The deal by the international boutique hotel operator secured the resort's 160 jobs.
Accounts show that Ashford Castle Hotel recorded the pre-tax profits after achieving revenues of €6.4m between May 10 and December 31, 2013. The hotel was closed for refurbishment in the early part of 2014 and the directors state that the refurbishment that upgraded the building's interior furnishings was done with the aim of increasing the quality of hotel experience.
